![]() This project is dedicated to polishing Tokyo’s “treasures” - the traditional techniques of Edo-era Tokyo and the products of veteran shops - and sharing their value and allure with the world. The collections are global and include internationally renowned holdings of Asian art and design, including from Japan. The Museum houses some of the world’s greatest resources for the study of architecture, sculpture, paintings, photography, prints, furniture, fashion, textiles, metalwork, jewellery, ceramics, glass, theatre and performance. The V&A is a world’s leading museum of art and design, housing a permanent collection of over 2.8 million objects, books and archives that span over 5,000 years of human creativity. * Participants will be able to keep the pieces they make in workshops. You can apply the completed print to a fan or put it in a frame for show. Use a printing tool called a Baren tool to make an authentic wooden print. Participants will be able to experience woodblock printing by printing Katsushika Hokusai’s The Great Wave off Kanagawa, part of the Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji series, and a print of a goldfish, considered an auspicious print that wards off evil. This art event will be chiefly led by contemporary artist Noritaka Tatehana, member of the Edo Tokyo Kirari Project’s promotion committee, and three participants in the project: Komachi-beni Isehan Honten, Tokyo Kumihimo Ryukobo, and Edo Moku-Hanga Takahashi Kobo.
